Imlek Persiapan

Makanan WAJIB

🥑 Yamie ( yg mie nya panjang).

❌ Jangan yg putih seperti bubur. Jaman dulu yg bisa makan bubur biasanya orang yg ekonominya kurang.

COOKING AND CHINESE NEW YEAR

You can start cooking again on the **second day of Chinese New Year** or later, depending on family traditions. Here's a breakdown:

### **Chinese New Year Timeline and Cooking Practices**

1. **New Year's Eve (除夕 | Chúxì)**

   - Big family reunion dinner is prepared in advance.

   - Most of the heavy cooking is completed to avoid using knives or stoves on the first day.

2. **New Year’s Day (初一 | Chūyī)**

   - Cooking is often minimized or avoided to prevent "cutting away" good luck.

   - Families usually eat leftovers or light meals that don’t require much preparation.

3. **Second Day (初二 | Chū’èr)**

   - Normal cooking can resume for many families.

   - This day is also significant as it’s traditionally when married daughters visit their parents, and meals may be prepared to welcome them.

### Key Points to Remember:

- Some families resume cooking on **Chūyī (first day)** if necessary, but they avoid using sharp objects like knives.

- Others strictly avoid cooking until the **third day** (初三 | Chūsān) for maximum luck.

- Traditions vary by region and household.

It’s best to follow your family's customs or choose a day that feels right for you!

🌺

It is not entirely true that you shouldn't cook during **Chinese New Year**, but there are specific beliefs and practices tied to cooking, particularly on **New Year's Day** (the first day of the Lunar New Year). Here's why:

### Reasons Behind the Belief:

1. **Avoiding Sharp Objects**

Using knives or scissors is often avoided as they symbolize cutting away good fortune. This can make cooking less common on New Year's Day itself.

2. **Pre-prepared Meals**

Many families prepare large feasts on **Chinese New Year's Eve** to avoid cooking on New Year's Day. This allows everyone to relax and focus on celebrating, visiting relatives, and honoring traditions.

3. **Fire and Energy**

Some believe lighting fires (e.g., the stove) on New Year's Day can symbolize arguments or loss of wealth, so cooking is minimized.

4. **Rest for the Family**

It's considered auspicious to rest and enjoy the holiday without engaging in chores like cooking or cleaning, symbolizing a smooth and worry-free start to the year.

### Exceptions and Modern Practices:

- In many households, cooking still happens on New Year's Day, especially for smaller meals or for visiting guests.

- The key is to focus on **positive and harmonious actions**, avoiding anything that could bring bad luck.

While it's not a strict rule, refraining from cooking or limiting it on New Year's Day is a way to follow tradition and enjoy the festivities.

PANTHER

A panther (actually a term for black leopards or jaguars) cannot realistically be a pet 🚫.

Here’s why:

1️⃣ Wild Animal Nature

  • Panthers are apex predators with strong hunting instincts.

  • Even if raised from a cub, their natural aggression can appear suddenly.

  • They can weigh 60–100 kg, with bite and claw strength far beyond dogs or cats.

2️⃣ Legal Restrictions

  • In most countries, keeping big cats (panther, tiger, lion) is illegal without special wildlife permits.

  • Governments treat them as endangered species → protected under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).

3️⃣ Practical Problems

  • They need huge space (territory in the wild is 20–100 km²).

  • Special diet (raw meat, bones, organs).

  • Veterinary care is complex and expensive.

  • Dangerous to humans, neighbors, and other pets.

4️⃣ Ethics

  • Keeping a panther as a pet removes it from its natural life and often leads to suffering.

  • Conservationists encourage protecting them in the wild or sanctuaries, not private homes.

Alternative if you love panthers:

  • Support wildlife sanctuaries or adoption programs (symbolic adoption through WWF, etc.).

  • Have a domestic cat breed that looks like a panther, e.g., Bombay cat 🐈‍⬛ (they’re often called “mini panthers” — sleek black coat, copper eyes, affectionate personality).

👉 So, a true panther = no. A “panther-like” house cat = yes ✅.

Spider 🕷️ 🕸️

In many traditions, a big spider—especially one that shows up in your home—can be seen as a strong symbol of luck, protection, and abundance. Here’s why:

  • Size matters: A bigger spider often symbolizes a bigger “gift” or greater opportunity coming your way.

  • Web meaning: If it’s building a web, it could represent creativity, hard work paying off, or new opportunities in your life.

  • Protective energy: Some cultures see large spiders in the home as guardians against negative energy.

So your dad’s big spider might really be a positive sign, like a little messenger of good fortune. 🕷✨

Several cultures around the world have beliefs that spiders bring luck, especially big or noticeable ones. Here are some examples:

1. European Traditions

  • In Germany and Scandinavia, seeing a spider in the morning is thought to bring wealth and good fortune for the day.

  • A spider spinning a web inside the home can symbolize prosperity and creativity.

2. Slavic Folklore

  • Spiders are considered protective spirits. Killing a spider is often seen as bad luck, while letting it live can bring success and happiness.

3. Native American Beliefs

  • Many tribes see the spider as a symbol of wisdom, creativity, and protection. For example, the Spider Woman is a deity in Navajo and Hopi mythology, credited with teaching people how to weave and guiding them.

4. Asian Traditions

  • In China, spiders are associated with happiness and good fortune, especially if seen in the morning.

  • In Japan, a spider descending from the ceiling can be a sign of good luck.

5. African Folklore

  • The spider figure Anansi in West African mythology represents wisdom, storytelling, and cleverness, and can symbolize opportunities coming your way.

So your dad’s big spider could be interpreted as a symbol of luck and protection across multiple cultures.
