πŸ“Œ Ingredients (2 servings):

  • 200–250g beef cube steak (sirloin or tenderloin, cut into 2–3 cm cubes)

  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp mirin (optional, for light sweetness)

  • ½ tbsp cooking oil (e.g., canola or sesame)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley, sesame seeds, or scallions

  1. Prep the beef:

    • Pat beef cubes dry with paper towel.

    • Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. Fry the garlic:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

    • Add sliced garlic and fry until golden brown and crisp (not burnt!). Remove and set aside — this becomes the garnish.

  3. Sear the beef:

    • In the same pan, increase heat to high.

    • Add beef cubes and sear on all sides until browned (about 2–3 minutes total, don’t overcook).

    • Lower heat to medium.

  4. Add flavor:

    • Add butter, soy sauce, and mirin.

    • Toss to coat evenly, letting sauce thicken slightly and glaze the beef (about 30 seconds).

  5. Serve:

    • Plate the beef, sprinkle with fried garlic slices.

    • Garnish with parsley, sesame seeds, or scallions if desired.
