Purpose Domitian Gate : It served as the primary, grand entrance to the city of Hierapolis. It was built as a demonstration of Roman power and imperial loyalty.

Construction Domitian Gate: The gate was constructed between AD 84 and 86. It was commissioned by the Roman proconsul of Asia, Sextus Julius Frontinus, and dedicated to the Emperor Domitian, hence its name.
